Job description
Overview

The Site Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring the delivery of the specified site/block to time and budget, in a safe and effective manner. The Site Manager will motivate, appraise and deliver short‑term programmes to foremen and sub‑contractors within the project, liaise with commercial and health and safety teams and managers across the business to ensure project delivery, and compile and issue weekly site reports to the Project Manager for checking and alteration before onward transmission to the client.

Responsibilities
  • Creation, management and monitoring of specified parts of the project plan and associated budgets.
  • Management of foremen and other site/block‑specific sub‑contractors on‑site.
  • Working closely with Commercial, Design Quality and Health Safety departments.
  • Ensure all works are carried out to the highest safety standard and in accordance with RAM’s.
  • Ensure works are completed to construction drawings and specifications and to programme and deadlines.
  • Prepare and issue weekly and monthly client reports to the Project Manager.
  • Manage specified works and workforce to agreed productivity levels, deadlines and budgets.
  • Assist the maintenance and building of relationships with all key client staff and stakeholders, funders and other third parties as required.
  • Take full ownership of all aspects of management of works within the remit, understanding scope and managing resources to deliver works to time and budget.
  • Coordinate labour and material requirements across the works/site teams to ensure efficient use of stores and resources.
  • Liaise with the project manager, QS and buying department to ensure timely placement of orders and sequence of material deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate monitoring of labour, material and documentation.
  • Produce, maintain and control delivery records and communicate information to the workforce as required.
  • Maintain agreed quality standards, communicate those standards and all programme and contract requirements to the workforce.
  • Maintain complete and accurate online and printed records for all aspects of the works, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulation and company policies.
  • Work with project management, commercial department and QS to manage subcontractors, LOSC, orders, budgets and costs.
  • Work with the Health Safety department to ensure delivery of the construction phase H&S plan, risk assessments, method statements and COSHH assessments and ensure all relevant documentation and notices are available on site.
  • Work with ISO and Design Quality departments to ensure total management of service and product delivery across the works.
  • Work with liaison and customer service personnel to manage and resolve issues to their satisfaction.
  • Monitor workforce performance through objectives and action plans, raising and dealing with contractor and sub‑contractor issues appropriately.
  • Attend site and management meetings weekly, fortnightly and monthly as required.
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry regulations, H&S legislation and company processes and procedures.
  • Hold weekly progress meetings with sub‑contractors/supply chain.
  • Ensure QA/QC is being carried out and recorded.
  • Monitor, deliver and update the weekly site programme.
Qualifications
  • Technical qualification: ONC/HNC or equivalent in construction‑related.
  • CSCS card for Site Managers.
  • Safety qualifications: SMSTS, Asbestos awareness, Scaffold awareness; mobile tower scaffold, PASMA, Manual handling, Fire awareness.
  • DBS checked as required for specific projects.
  • Façade/EWI experience essential.
  • Minimum 4 years previous experience.
  • Competent user of MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Microsoft Outlook and email/calendar applications.
