Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking a Site Manager / Electrical Authorised Person to support Asset Intelligence on a Thames Water Security Upgrade site. The role combines site management with electrical safety oversight, requiring formal appointment under electrical safety procedures.

You will coordinate electrical installation and commissioning activities, manage RAMS and permits, and work with Project Managers and Thames Water representatives to ensure delivery to programme.

Qualifications

  • Experience in site management with electrical interfaces and safety oversight.
  • Familiarity with Electricity at Work Regulations and IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience reviewing RAMS, managing permits and isolations.
  • Ability to coordinate electrical subcontractors, suppliers and Thames Water reps.

Role Title: Site Manager / Electrical Authorised Person

Business Unit: Asset Intelligence

Location: Thames Valley Area - Site Based

Role Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for a Site Manager / Electrical Authorised Person to support Galliford Try Asset Intelligence on a Thames Water Security Upgrade site. This role combines site management responsibilities with electrical safety management duties, subject to the individual being formally assessed and appointed under the relevant electrical safety procedures. The role will oversee and coordinate electrical installation and commissioning activities, support safe systems of work and provide electrical guidance to the wider site team.

What you will be doing:
  • Manage day-to-day site activities relating to electrical installation, electrical interfaces and associated construction works.
  • Coordinate electrical subcontractors, suppliers, commissioning teams, designers and Thames Water representatives to support safe, efficient delivery.
  • Work with Project Managers to plan and execute electrical works in line with programme, budget, quality requirements and operational constraints.
  • Attend initial site surveys for de-risking and costing exercises and support the development of electrical proposals for Thames Water where required.
  • Support TWOSA applications or extensions once the scope, site constraints and programme requirements are understood.
  • Review electrical RAMS, method statements, test procedures, permits and safe systems of work, including supporting other site managers with electrical RAMS review forms where needed.
  • Where formally appointed, issue and cancel electrical permits, sanctions to test and limitations of access in accordance with the relevant project rules and procedures.
  • Ensure the Site Manager and wider site team are aware of electrical work before it takes place and that electrical activities are coordinated with the overall site programme.
  • Assess competent persons and permit recipients within the limits of the appointment and ensure they understand the electrical safety requirements for the tasks being undertaken.
  • Maintain electrical safety records, permit registers, electrical safety packs, relevant logs, signage, isolation controls and access arrangements.
  • Ensure electrical rooms, boards, panels, risers, cabinets and controlled areas are secured, labelled and managed appropriately.
  • Monitor installation quality against drawings, specifications, test requirements and technical standards.
  • Lead or support commissioning, live testing, handover activities, defect closeout and electrical quality inspections.
  • Communicate electrical risks, progress, issues and milestones to the Project Manager, Senior Site Manager, SAP, subcontractors and client representatives.
  • Provide crossover support to commissioning managers and wider site teams where electrical input is required.
About you:
  • Experienced Site Manager or Electrical Site Manager with a strong electrical background and practical site delivery experience.
  • Able to demonstrate competence, practical knowledge and familiarity with the electrical installations, distribution systems and equipment for which they may be authorised.
  • Good knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, IET Wiring Regulations and relevant company or project electrical rules and procedures.
  • Experience reviewing RAMS, managing permits, coordinating isolations and supporting commissioning or testing activities.
  • Able to coordinate electrical subcontractors and communicate clearly with SAPs, Project Managers, Site Managers, commissioning teams and client representatives.
  • Confident identifying electrical risks, quality issues and programme constraints and escalating them promptly.
  • Able to maintain detailed electrical safety records and operate within formal appointment limits.
Desirable experience / qualifications:
  • Formal Electrical Authorised Person appointment, or ability to obtain appointment following assessment.
  • Recognised electrical qualification or relevant time-served electrical experience.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • CSCS or ECS card.
  • First Aid at Work.
  • EUSR Water Hygiene.
  • Experience on LV distribution, site electrical installations, security system power supplies, panels, controls, testing or commissioning.
  • Experience working within operational water, utilities, industrial, CNI or secure infrastructure environments.
