Job summary

Gibson Recruitment Limited is seeking a Site Manager (Civil Engineer) for permanent placement on brownfield and complex building projects in Glasgow. You will manage groundworks/civils subcontractors, drive works to programme targets and maintain quality and safety on site.

Requirements include a Civil Engineering degree/HND, CSCS, SMSTS, First Aid at Work, and prior site management experience. Excellent communication and leadership are essential for delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in a similar site management role.
• Experience dealing with engineers, clients and subcontractors.
• CSCS card is required.
• SMSTS qualification is required.
• First Aid at Work certification is required.
• Good knowledge of health and safety in construction.

Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of programme constraints and drive works to meet targets.
• Organise and coordinate all labour on site including subcontractors.
• Maintain safety, quality and environmental records.
• Order materials and plant to fit the programme.
• Control plant hire and maintenance on site.
• Ensure site is tidy and records are up to date.
• Check time sheets and maintain filing systems.
• Strive to reduce costs and complete contracts within budget.
• Maintain company profile on quality.

Gibson Recruitment Ltd. is working on behalf of a reputable Main Contractor to recruit a SITE MANAGER on a permanent basis.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate new build experience and be suitably qualified Civil Engineers. This role is to manage the groundworks / civils sub-contractors on complex buildings on brownfield sites.

Applications are encouraged from experienced Site Managers who have progressed through the ranks as Site Engineers, and from ambitious Site/Setting Out Engineers who are keen to take on greater management responsibility.

Our client has a solid pipeline of projects and a growing team, and the successful Site Manager / Site Engineer will be based on new build projects in Glasgow.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain awareness of programme constraints and drive works to meet targets.
• Organisation and coordination of all labour on site including specialist contractors.
• Have a high level of commercial awareness.
• Responsible for quality of workmanship in all areas of site
• Responsible for compliance with the SHEQ plans.
• Order materials and plant in a manner to suit the programme.
• Control of plant hire and maintenance and security of same
• Ensure all plant and machines are used efficiently and safely on site.
• Maintain safety, quality, and environmental records.
• Keep site records, registers up to date, and maintain filing system.
• Check time sheets.
• Ensure site is kept tidy.
• Undertake all duties in accordance with Company Procedure Manual
• Achieve high productivity levels.
• Continuously assess accuracy of all works
• Strive to reduce costs and complete contract within budget.
• Maintain company profile on quality.

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree/HND in Civil Engineering.
• Previous experience in a similar capacity.
• Experienced in dealing with Engineers, Clients, Sub-contractors.
• Able to communicate with staff at all levels.
• Able to build and maintain strong working relationships.
• Willing to mentor and develop site staff.
