Salary up to £57,750 per year (dependant on experience) with a strong benefits package - plus extensive Overtime available (further details below)


37-hour basic week

Full Time / Permanent

Additional salary enhancements:

Excellent Overtime opportunities (subject to project and location) (Saturday x1.5 hrs, Sunday x2 hrs). Business miles paid at £0.45/m.

Role

To enact the role of Client Representative on site ensuring that the site-based construction activities across Scottish Power- Strategic Projects are efficiently managed in accordance with Scottish Power policies and procedures.

What you will be doing

  1. Ensure that the Principal Contractor (PC) is pro-active in discharging their duties under the CDM regulations, not least in managing all safety aspects of the construction-based activities.
  2. Review and comment on the deliverability of the PC Site Delivery Programmes and proactively monitor all activities, promptly advising the EPC Project Manager of any risks, opportunities or delays to programme which could impact the overall completion date or costs at completion.
  3. Ensure the facilitation of regular site safety walks, holding coordination meetings with all contractors on site, ensuring that access/egress to the site is controlled and maintaining a site log/diary.
  4. Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  5. Ensure the PC is proactive in holding Site Progress Meetings and issues minutes of these meetings.
  6. Support Quality Assurance monitoring across the Strategic Projects.
  7. Undertake the role of client representative for sensible monitoring of site construction activities and be familiar with all aspects of the contract documentation.
  8. Enacting the role of Employers ‘Supervisor’ under NEC contracts.
  9. Issue site instructions following agreement from the EPC Project Manager and authenticate any record & sheets issued by the Principal Contractor.
  10. Ensure that a drawing documentation system is established on site, which clearly indexes drawings logged and filed in specific sections.
  11. Maintain the system throughout with the latest working drawings/revisions clearly noted and drawings filed to ensure they are readily available.
  12. Coach, mentor other members of staff as and when required.
  13. Drive agreed OFGEM regulatory targets for Sustainability and Biodiversity.

What you will bring

  1. Basic understanding of various Contract forms such as NEC 3 or 4 and FIDIC etc. & awareness of NEC conditions of contract.
  2. Expert understanding of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies.
  3. Previous experience of project site management capability of working to deadlines and in a contracting environment.
  4. Significant experience in managing transmission construction projects.
  5. Extensive experience of construction standards especially with regards to civil works.
  6. Extensive experience and knowledge in all current Health and Safety legislation & understand CDM 2015 regs & duty holder roles, most notably in delivering the Client role and/or Principal Contractor role.
  7. In addition, have experience in the application and compliance with GS6, HSG47, and Temporary works.
  8. Ability to understand civil and structural design drawings and all inspection and testing regimes associated.
  9. Primary proven knowledge and experience of specification, design, maintenance, construction, and commissioning of civil works within the confines of a Transmission substation environment.
  10. Technical knowledge to understand civil, structural and wiring design drawings and all inspection and testing regimes associated.
  11. HNC / HND or equivalent experience in an engineering and or construction discipline.
  12. SMSTS, NEBOSH, IOSH or SSSTS.
  13. Formal training in the following areas: Construction H&S, CDM, Risk Assessment & Method Statements, Environmental, Duty of Care and Waste Management, Contract Terms and Conditions.
  14. Full UK driving licence.
