Job description
Shift Pattern

Week 1: Monday‑Thursday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM; Friday, 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Week 2: Monday‑Friday, 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM
30‑minute unpaid lunch break
During term time, morning and afternoon/evening shifts alternate weekly. During school holidays, early and day shifts are worked.

Main Duties
  • Supervise the school’s operational areas, ensuring buildings and premises are safe, clean, and well‑maintained.
  • Conduct legislative compliance tests and inspections (e.g., fire alarm, legionella, emergency lighting) following training.
  • Operate and respond to alarm systems as appropriate.
  • Act as key holder, performing security procedures including opening and securing the premises; respond to calls outside normal hours only as a last resort.
  • Receive and distribute deliveries.
  • Undertake routine maintenance; report serious faults to the Site Manager/Supervisor.
  • Perform weekly and monthly planned maintenance activities.
  • Be available for occasional out‑of‑hours calls regarding the site and lettings.
  • Carry out minor repairs such as painting, decoration, jet‑washing, ceiling tile replacement.
  • Maintain boundaries, footpaths, roads, flower beds, and rights of way.
  • Undertake grounds and building maintenance, redecoration, and refurbishment as necessary.
  • Keep the site free from litter and clean drains/gullies.
  • Set up and remove furniture as required.
  • Liaise with contractors on‑site.
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform duties efficiently, effectively, and economically.
  • Work safely and comply with risk assessments.
  • Work independently without direct supervision.
  • Promote and support a positive image of the school.
  • Undertake relevant Health & Safety training.
  • Display flexibility; duties may vary within the remit of the role and may include work at other schools within the Trust.
