Job summary

Navartis Ltd is seeking an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in commercial fit-out to join our Midlands-based projects nationwide. You will take ownership of office and retail fit-outs valued between £500k and £2.5m, from mobilisation through to handover, and travel as required.

The successful candidate will lead subcontractors, manage safety and quality, and report progress to clients and project managers.

Site Manager - Fit-Out

Location: Midlands (National Travel Required)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

The Opportunity

We are recruiting an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in commercial fit-out to join an established construction and refurbishment contractor delivering projects nationwide.

The business specialises in high-quality commercial construction, refurbishment and interior fit-out, working across a varied portfolio of projects for established clients throughout the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, delivery-focused Site Manager to take ownership of office and retail fit-out projects valued between £500k and £2.5m, managing projects from site mobilisation through to completion and handover.

The successful candidate must be confident operating as the number one Site Manager on site, taking full responsibility for day-to-day delivery, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring projects are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of commercial fit-out projects.
• Lead and coordinate subcontractors, trades and site operatives to ensure works are completed efficiently and to programme.
• Plan and manage site activities, short-term programmes, labour requirements and material deliveries.
• Maintain the highest standards of health and safety, ensuring compliance with site procedures and relevant legislation.
• Carry out regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, quality and progress against programme.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Monitor progress against project milestones, identifying potential delays and implementing solutions where required.
• Manage site documentation, including RAMS, site inductions, toolbox talks, daily records and progress reports.
• Oversee quality control, snagging, defects management and the final handover process.
• Ensure materials, plant and resources are available when required and that the site remains organised and compliant.
• Maintain positive working relationships with clients and their representatives, providing regular updates on progress and any issues arising.
• Identify and resolve on-site challenges proactively, maintaining a professional and solutions-focused approach throughout each project.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Manager delivering commercial fit-out projects.
• A strong track record of managing projects as the number one Site Manager, with responsibility for the full site operation.
• Experience delivering office and/or retail fit-out projects, ideally valued between £500k and £2.5m.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, subcontractor management, health and safety and quality control.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and project programmes.
• Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving, programme management and project delivery.
• Willingness to travel nationally and stay away from home when project requirements dictate.
• Relevant site management qualifications, such as SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid, would be advantageous.

Desirable: Candidates with a trade background and practical construction experience would be particularly attractive, although this is not essential.
