Job summary

Washington Academy is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead day-to-day management of the school site, ensuring buildings and grounds are safe, compliant and welcoming for students and staff. This permanent role requires hands-on leadership and strong IT record-keeping.

You’ll coordinate maintenance, support the facilities team, manage contractors, and ensure high standards of security, environmental upkeep and service delivery throughout the year.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing school, commercial or public sector facilities.
  • Hands-on leader who can undertake maintenance tasks.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety and building maintenance.
  • Able to manage contractors and coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Committed to high standards and customer service.
  • Confident using IT systems to manage records and reporting.
  • A recognised facilities, health and safety or building maintenance qualification would be advantageous.
  • Experience of compliance management within an education environment.

Site Manager
Salary: NJC Grade 7 SCP 19 - 23 - £32,061 - £34,435

Contract: Permanent, 36 hours per week, all year round
Start date: September 2026

Washington Academy is seeking an experienced, proactive and hands‑on Site Manager to lead the day‑to‑day management of our school site, ensuring our buildings and grounds remain safe, secure, compliant and welcoming for our students, staff and visitors.

About the Role

As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the operational management of the Academy's premises and facilities. This is a practical leadership role where you will work alongside the facilities team, undertaking maintenance and repairs while coordinating day‑to‑day site operations.

Your responsibilities will include

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience managing school, commercial or public sector facilities.

  • Has excellent knowledge of health and safety and building maintenance.
  • Can effectively manage contractors and coordinate multiple priorities.
  • Has strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Is committed to maintaining high standards and delivering excellent customer service.
  • Is confident using IT systems to manage records and reporting.

A recognised facilities, health and safety or building maintenance qualification would be advantageous, along with experience of compliance management within an education or similar environment.
