Overview

Site Manager - Distribution Centre (Wakefield)

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Salary: £38,000 - £40,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (5 out of 7 days, including evenings and weekends - flexibility required)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to take ownership of the facilities management service at a large, fast-paced distribution centre in Wakefield.

As Site Manager, you will lead a sizeable team delivering high standards of hygiene, safety, and compliance. Working in partnership with our client, you'll ensure a seamless, professional service that supports operational excellence across the site.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident leader with a background in soft services or large-scale facilities management who thrives on delivering results through people.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day FM operations, ensuring services are delivered in line with agreed standards and SLAs.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a large team, promoting a culture of accountability, respect, and excellence.
  • Maintain exceptional hygiene and safety standards across all areas of the site.
  • Monitor performance metrics, budgets, and compliance to ensure full alignment with contractual and legal requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships with the client and on-site stakeholders, ensuring expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Deliver continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • Manage staffing levels, recruitment, and performance, ensuring the right people are in the right roles.
  • Conduct audits, maintain statutory compliance, and lead on all aspects of Health & Safety and COSHH.
  • Communicate effectively across teams, sharing best practices and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Respond proactively to operational challenges, demonstrating flexibility, professionalism, and problem-solving ability.
About You
  • Proven experience in facilities or soft services management, ideally within a distribution or large industrial environment.
  • Skilled in leading and developing large teams to achieve high performance.
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Commercially aware, with experience managing budgets and tracking performance.
  • Confident communicator who can build trust with clients and inspire teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment.
  • Results-driven with a focus on service quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
