Job description

Highbury Primary School

Highbury Primary School is seeking a caring, motivated and enthusiastic Site Manager to join our supportive and dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a vibrant primary school environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Position Description

Are you a well organised, self-motivated individual with a range of practical skills? We are seeking a Site Manager to help manage the day-to-day running of our school site, ensuring it is safe, clean, and well maintained at all times. Both experienced applicants and those new to the role are welcome to apply to join our friendly and committed team. The role involves assisting with the management of the school buildings and grounds, carrying out essential health and safety checks, undertaking minor repairs, maintenance and decorating, supporting the cleaning team, and working flexibly to meet the needs of the school. You will also be responsible for opening and closing the site as a key holder and liaising with the Site Assistant to support the use of premises, including occasional out-of-hours arrangements.

The successful candidate will be practically minded, able to use DIY and maintenance skills effectively, and capable of working collaboratively. You should have strong organisational abilities, a proactive approach, and a commitment to maintaining high standards. Experience is desirable but not essential, as full training and induction will be provided. This is a full-time role (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year) working a split shift across mornings and afternoons, with flexibility required on occasion to cover different hours as needed.

In return, you will be part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust, bringing you added benefits and opportunities. You will find that each of our Academies has a unique identity, but a shared belief in creating a positive and enriching environment, where all staff feel valued.

The University of Chichester Academy Trust

You will be part of The University of Chichester Academy Trust, which is uniquely positioned to make a difference in the local educational landscape. The Trust currently encompasses 17 academies, 2 Inclusion centres, and a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training base, all based in Hampshire, Portsmouth, and West Sussex. While we share a common vision and values, each academy has its own identity that contributes to its local community. The Trust is committed to valuing the uniqueness of each school.

Two-Week October Half Term

We have introduced a two-week October half-term across all our schools. This initiative is already making a positive impact, giving staff and pupils a valuable break during the long autumn term, reducing absence through illness, and supporting overall well-being. It also brings greater consistency across our Trust, creating a more connected and efficient way of working. It is just one example of how we prioritise our people and create a working environment where everyone can thrive.

Diversity and Inclusion

At the University of Chichester Academy Trust, we believe that diversity drives creativity, innovation, and excellence. We are committed to providing equality of opportunity, fostering an inclusive culture, and creating a community where everyone feels they belong. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who are underrepresented within our workforce, including those from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled individuals, LGBTQI+ individuals, and women - especially for senior leadership roles.

Safeguarding Commitment

We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our recruitment and selection practices will reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks, along with other relevant employment checks.
