Job description

We are partnering with one of the North East's most respected and established Contractors to recruit a driven Site Manager to join their expanding operations team. The Role

As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe running of construction sites, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be the primary on-site representative, leading the project from inception through to successful completion and handover.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the construction site, managing resources, and ensuring project milestones are met according to the programme.

  • Health & Safety: Rigorously implementing and enforcing all necessary Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and procedures on site, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.

  • Quality Control: Ensuring all work is carried out to the required specifications, quality standards, and building regulations.

  • Team Leadership: Managing and motivating site teams, sub-contractors, and direct labour, effectively delegating tasks and managing performance.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Acting as the main point of contact on site, liaising effectively with the Contracts Manager, Quantity Surveyors, clients, architects, and local authorities.

  • Reporting: Maintaining accurate site records, conducting regular progress meetings, and providing clear, timely reports to the senior management team.

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

  • Proven Experience: Time served in a Site Manager role, ideally working on commercial building projects (e.g., offices, industrial units, retail, or education).

  • Relevant Qualifications: A construction-related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).

  • Essential Certifications:

    • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)

    • CSCS Card (preferably Black or Gold)

    • First Aid at Work Certification

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, health and safety legislation, and building regulations.

  • Skills: Excellent organisational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. A keen eye for detail and commitment to quality is paramount.

  • Local Knowledge: A good understanding of the North East construction market is highly advantageous.
