Subcontract Site Manager - Fire Protection / Sprinkler Systems

Location: South Scotland (Lanarkshire area)
Duration: 10-12 weeks (with potential for extension)
Rate: Rate negotiable depending on experience
Start: ASAP

Overview

We're looking for an experienced Site Manager to oversee a fire suppression project on a large whisky production site in South Scotland. The role involves managing a small team of 6 sprinkler and deluge engineers (4 permanent and 2 subcontractors) on behalf of the main contractor. You'll be responsible for coordinating daily site operations, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with project timelines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day management of all site activities related to fire suppression system installation
  • Supervising a mixed team of engineers (permanent and contract staff)
  • Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Coordinating with other trades and contractors on site
  • Monitoring progress, quality, and materials usage
  • Conducting daily briefings and toolbox talks
  • Reporting updates to the project manager and maintaining site records
Requirements
  • SMSTS certification - essential
  • Proven experience managing fire protection, sprinkler, or mechanical installation projects
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a small site team effectively and maintain productivity
  • Good understanding of construction H&S regulations
  • Experience working on industrial or commercial projects (construction site environment)
  • Full UK driving licence
