Job summary

Think Recruitment is seeking a Site Manager to join a long-established family-run business in the East Midlands. The role oversees on-site construction activities, enforces health and safety standards, and ensures timely delivery across projects.

You will manage trades, material requisitions, and RAMS, drive the project programme, supervise the site team, and nurture client relationships. Salary ranges from £45,000 to £65,000 plus car or allowance, pension, holiday buy-back and healthcare.

Qualifications

• Experience managing on-site construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to site work.
• Ability to lead site teams and subcontractors effectively.
• Experience developing and approving RAMS (risk assessments and method statements).

Responsibilities

• Oversee all on-site activities, ensuring health and safety compliance and timely delivery.
• Vet trades on-site and ensure high quality by checking sample areas/rooms.
• Manage material requisitions and site deliveries against procurement orders.
• Review and update the project programme in collaboration with Senior Site Manager/Project Manager.
• Drive the project timeline and maintain weekly as-built updates.
• Compile and maintain the Health & Safety file for the project.
• Lead and motivate the site team, including subcontractors, to maximise productivity.
• Plan and allocate work with defined areas and timescales for each trade.
• Provide feedback and support appraisals to team members, fostering development.
• Maintain strong client relationships and address issues promptly to ensure satisfaction.

The Role

Construction Management:

• Oversee all on-site activities, ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations and timely project delivery.
• Ensure the highest quality control by vetting trades on-site and requiring sample areas/rooms to guarantee standards.
• Manage material requisitions and ensure site ownership of all deliveries, verifying materials received against procurement orders.
• Review and propose revisions to the project programme, collaborating with the Senior Site Manager (if applicable) and the Project/Contracts Manager.
• Drive the project timeline, ensuring completion within the set programme, while updating the as-built programme weekly.
• Compile and maintain the Health & Safety file throughout the project.

Compliance:

• Identify and manage health, safety, and environmental risks, developing an approving RAMS for all operatives and subcontractors.
• Participate in pre-let interviews and decision-making for subcontracto appointments, ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Implement corrective actions for any non-conformance on-site, recommendin system improvements as needed.

People Management:

• Lead and motivate the site team, including assistant or trainee, operatives, an subcontractors, to maximize performance and efficiency.
• Plan and allocate work to ensure optimal productivity, with dedicated areas an timescales for each trade.
• Provide constructive feedback and assist with appraisals, fostering continuou improvement and professional development within the team.
