The Thorn Baker Group is seeking a skilled Site Manager to lead a premium housing project in Leicester. You’ll oversee safety, quality, schedule, and subcontractor coordination on a traditionally built high-end development.

With SMSTS, CSCS and a clear track record managing residential sites, you’ll drive site efficiency, maintain records, and liaise with clients and authorities to ensure on-time delivery and exemplary workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organise and control all site activities to ensure timely, budgeted delivery with quality.

• Ensure compliance with building regulations and company policies.
• Coordinate with design, procurement and project management teams on changes.
• Monitor progress and prepare reports on performance, risks and opportunities.

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Monday - Friday

A medium sized prestigious housing developer seeks an experienced Site Manager or Senior Site Manager to lead and manage a new high-end housing development in Leicester. This project involves traditionally built homes, requiring meticulous attention to quality, safety, and schedule adherence.

Job Duties

• Plan, organise and control all site activities to ensure the successful delivery of the project within agreed timescale, budget, and quality standards.
• Manage and supervise subcontractors, suppliers and site operatives to maintain high standards of workmanship and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Ensure all site operations comply with relevant building regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with the design, procurement and project management teams to resolve issues and implement changes as required.
• Monitor progress and prepare regular reports on site performance, risks, and opportunities for senior management.
• Maintain accurate site records including daily logs, progress photographs, and health and safety documentation.
• Lead site meetings and liaise with external stakeholders such as local authorities and clients as necessary.
• Drive continuous improvement in site efficiency, quality, and safety culture.

Required Qualifications

• Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
• Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
• First Aid at Work certification.
• NVQ Lv 6
• Full, valid driving licence.

Experience

• Proven track record of managing residential construction sites, preferably involving traditionally built high-end housing.
• Experience in overseeing multiple subcontractors and coordinating complex site operations.
• Familiarity with health and safety legislation and best practise on construction sites.

Knowledge and Skills

• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate teams and maintain discipline on site.
• Excellent organisational and time management abilities to prioritise tasks effectively.
• Good communication skills to liaise clearly and professionally with clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
• Competency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications and construction programmes.
• Proficient in the use of site management software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Chartered status or membership of professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE).
• Additional health and safety qualifications such as NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• Experience with environmentally sustainable construction practises.

Working Conditions

• The role requires regular presence on site, often outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Full-time hours are expected, with occasional extended hours to meet project deadlines.
• The post may involve travel within the region and occasional visits to other company sites.
• Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory at all times on site.
• The position demands physical activity, including walking across uneven terrain and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
