Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Site Agent / Manager to join the VolkerStevin team working as part of our United Utilities Framework delivery team on a water project around the Cumbria / Lancaster area. The Site Manager will be responsible for the on‑site delivery of the construction phase of assigned sites or a section of a large scheme. The selected candidate will also receive and provide instruction/direction to ensure the successful delivery of the construction works, including coordination of MEICA installation, assigned by the Contracts Manager and Project Manager. The Site Manager is an integral member of the Site Operation Team and is expected to act responsibly and professionally, maintaining good working relations with site teams, the client, our chain of sub‑contractors, suppliers, designers and the general public.

Responsibilities
  • Lead site operations in line with VolkerStevin HSEQ policies.
  • Identify change, risk or opportunity and brief the Project Manager for resolution.
  • Produce, review and monitor site project management plans (e.g. TMP, SMP).
  • Produce, review and monitor RAMS/ITP to ensure compliance with business standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate as‑built documentation.
  • Coordinate with third parties during construction (including enabling works).
  • Issue weekly progress reports.
  • Represent the company in the delivery of projects.
  • Receive instruction on behalf of the company.
  • Issue instruction and direction to ensure the successful delivery of projects assigned to the PM by senior management.
  • Deliver works safely, managing both civil construction and MEICA installation works.
  • Maintain site culture, engagement and standards in line with Safety Ripple principles.
  • Observe all relevant statutory provisions applicable to construction.
  • Implement procedures for managing and engaging sub‑contractors.
  • Provide an overall Site Management Plan (SMP) and Environmental Control Plan (ECP) for each site, keeping them updated throughout construction.
  • Ensure all UU Works Authorisations are in place and segregation measures are applied where necessary.
  • Arrange HAZCON meetings with UU Construction Supervisor prior to works commencing.
  • Coordinate with UU operations management where there is an interface with existing live WwTW sites.
  • Drive quality performance and embed Quality Ripple principles.
  • Review and manage construction programme and forecast during construction.
