Site Manager – Civil Engineering

Location : Plymouth (permanent)

Salary : Up to £50,000 + benefits (DOE)

The Role

We’re recruiting a Site Manager to lead the safe, efficient delivery of civil engineering works across Plymouth and the wider Devon / Cornwall area. You’ll take ownership of day-to-day site operations, driving programme, quality, and HSE performance while coordinating subcontractors and liaising with clients and the wider project team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead site delivery to programme, budget, and specification
  • Champion HSE: site inductions, briefings, RAMS, permits, audits
  • Manage subcontractors, labour, plant and materials
  • Short-term planning / lookaheads, progress reporting, and records
  • Quality control: ITPs, inspections, NCRs, handover documentation
  • Interface with clients, designers, and stakeholders to resolve issues promptly
About You
  • Proven Site Manager (civils / infrastructure) with main contractor experience
  • Strong HSE leadership; confident with RAMS / permits and site compliance
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Competent with programmes, reporting and site records
  • Full UK driving licence
Qualifications (preferred)
  • SMSTS (or equivalent), CSCS
  • First Aid at Work
  • Temporary Works (Appointed Person / Supervisor) advantageous
