The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a social housing contractor on a temporary basis, overseeing construction and retrofit works across occupied and void properties in South London.

The role will focus heavily on SHDF-funded retrofit projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to a high standard while maintaining excellent resident relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of site activities across social housing construction and retrofit projects.
  • Manage SHDF and retrofit works, including external wall insulation, roofing, windows, doors, heating systems, ventilation, and energy-efficiency upgrades.
  • Ensure all works are delivered in line with programme, specification, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, and suppliers to ensure smooth site operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety, CDM regulations, and company policies.
  • Liaise with residents, housing officers, client representatives, and internal teams to minimise disruption and maintain strong customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and quality checks.
  • Manage site records, RAMS, progress reports, and handover documentation.
  • Identify and resolve site issues promptly, escalating where required.
Required Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager within social housing construction.
  • Essential experience delivering SHDF-funded projects and retrofit works.
  • Strong understanding of working in occupied properties and resident liaison.
  • Ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors effectively.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
