Site Manager - Housing Civils (Alnwick)

Location: Alnwick, Northumberland
Role: Site Manager - Civils & Groundworks

Start: Immediate

Rate: £28ph- £30ph

Are you an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in residential civil engineering and groundworks? We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to take full responsibility for the ground-up Alnwick, Northumberland.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health & Safety: Full responsibility for site safety (CDM 2015 compliance), conducting daily briefings, and ensuring all groundworks operations are executed safely and to the highest standards.
  • Programme Management: Planning, monitoring, and driving the civils programme, including setting out, earthworks, drainage (foul and surface water), road construction, and utility trenching.
  • Quality & Technical: Overseeing the quality of all civil engineering work, ensuring compliance with specifications, relevant NHBC standards, and local authority agreements (S38, S278, S104).
  • Subcontractor Management: Direct management, supervision, and coordination of groundwork, plant, and specialist civil sub-contractors.
  • Commercial: Working closely with the Commercial/Quantity Surveying team to manage costs, minimise waste, and ensure timely completion within budget.
  • Reporting: Providing accurate and timely progress reports to the Contracts Manager and wider project team.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Acting as the primary point of contact for utility providers, local authority inspectors, and statutory bodies during the civils phase.
About You
  • Essential Experience: full civils package on a large-scale residential housing development.
  • Deep understanding of groundworks, roads, sewers, deep drainage, and all associated infrastructure for new build housing.
  • Qualifications:
    • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
    • CSCS Card (Black or relevant level)
    • First Aid at Work Certificate
    • Formal qualification in Civil Engineering/Construction Management is desirable.
  • Personal Attributes: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. A proactive, hands‑on approach is essential to drive the project forward.
