Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking a General Operative to support day-to-day site operations, ensuring production activities comply with safety standards and company policies. You will operate mobile and static plant and help maintain equipment and housekeeping across the site.

The role requires a proactive, reliable team player with good communication and timekeeping, and a willingness to learn and progress through NVQ/QCF qualifications where needed.

Qualifications

• Good general level of education.
• Ability to understand health and safety requirements and quarry regulations.
• Willingness to learn NVQ/QCF qualifications in plant operations where required.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile plant safely and efficiently.
• Operate static plant equipment to support production processes.
• Carry out Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality inspections.
• Complete inspection checklists before, during, and after operations.
• Identify, report and help address defects or issues.
• Assist with inspection, maintenance and upkeep of plant equipment.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the site.
• Complete near miss reports and support a proactive safety culture.
• Ensure company procedures and site rules are followed at all times.
• Welcome visitors, manage sign-in procedures and contractor inductions.
