Job description

Job Description: As the Environmental Impacts Project Manager, you will lead the planning, delivery and commissioning of sustainability and environmental initiatives across the Leonardo Helicopters (LH) UK portfolio. Working collaboratively with key stakeholders and delivery partners, you will help ensure initiatives are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards, while meeting agreed budgets, timelines and performance targets.

Your impact

This is not a traditional end-to-end project management role. While you will take ownership of projects and initiatives, the role is equally about identifying opportunities, bringing people together, influencing positive change and turning sustainability ambitions into meaningful environmental improvements. You will be a passionate advocate for sustainability, using your knowledge, initiative and influence to make a tangible difference across the organisation. You will provide day-to-day leadership and coordination across environmental and sustainability initiatives, driving performance against key metrics, managing risks and dependencies, and supporting successful implementation. A key part of the role will be ensuring that Site Facilities environmental and sustainability activities remain fully compliant with UK legislation, LDO UK and LH UK policies, standards and procedures. You will identify opportunities for continuous improvement, challenge existing ways of working and work with stakeholders to develop practical solutions that reduce environmental impact and support the organisation’s wider sustainability ambitions. Success in this role will require more than technical and project management capability. You will demonstrate a proactive, collaborative and purpose-driven approach, taking ownership, building strong relationships and role-modelling the behaviours needed to influence change. You will be comfortable working across organisational boundaries, engaging stakeholders at all levels and using your passion for sustainability to inspire action. For the awareness of internal applicants, this role is a JFF level 6. This position is predominantly site based in Yeovil, with occasional working from home.

What you will do as a Site Facilities Environmental Impacts Project Manager:
  • Provide professional/technical advice in support of the successful delivery of infrastructure projects contributing to the 5-year business planning cycle and delivery of long-term strategies.
  • Ensure that suitable and sufficient HSE arrangements are deployed and practiced on all projects in accordance with current UK Legislation, LDO UK Policies and Procedures and the LHUK HSEMSM.
  • Collaborate with specialists such as Energy Managers, Sustainability Managers and local Government Officials for Permits and Licences.
  • Ensure all legal requirements, building regulations, safety codes, safety inspections, and local and national regulations are met.
  • Manage HSE issues, ensuring Contractors have a safe working environment within which to operate.
  • Ensure compliance with the LHUK Facilities project governance processes.
  • Effectively manage the Site Facilities related elements of audits by Regulatory and Assurance Bodies and Internal Auditors, including ISO14001, ISO45001 and ISO50001.
  • Manage the delivery of the ISO 50001 Energy Management System for LHUK.
  • Manage external audits.
  • Conduct annual review with Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) Energy Partner.
  • Review and chair the monthly Utilities Working Group (UWG).
  • Ensure the continuity of Utilities supplies to the LHUK property portfolio.
  • Responsible for the publication of monthly utilities management reports.
  • Act as lead for Yeovil Site Utilities management, including gas, water and electricity.
  • Manage the reduction of Utilities consumption as part of the LHUK commitment to the LDO UK Carbon Net Zero targets.
  • Ensure that LHUK is compliant with UK legislation for Utilities, including but not limited to CCA, CRC, CCL and Gas Safety.
  • Help drive innovative ways of working and tools for the wider Energy Decarbonisation Team.
  • Act as the lead for Social Value (SV) outputs from contract award.
  • Responsible for the management of EV provision.
  • Management of solar initiates, both internal and external to the Yeovil site.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity You may be called upon to support the LHUK Emergency Preparedness processes and procedures supporting the Command Emergency Control Centre (ECC), responsible for the management and delivery of the Site Facilities responsibilities, focussed on the management of incident consequences relating to People, Environment, Assets and Reputation (PEAR).
What you’ll bring

Qualified professional and/or in-depth experience in a relevant environmental, sustainability or facilities discipline. Working knowledge of sustainability and environmental best practice, legislation, risk management, policies, procedures and market trends. Willingness to attain Practitioner Membership Standard of the Institute of Sustainability & Environmental Professionals by the end of Year 2 in role, and attain Full membership by the end of year 5 Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, managers, customers, suppliers and regulatory authorities. Clear understanding of business and functional strategy and how the role contributes to business objectives. Understanding of real estate, infrastructure and Facilities Management processes, including CDM. Experience and knowledge of LHUK manufacturing processes. Financial competence, including budgetary control. Self-motivated, purpose-driven and proactive, with the ability to deliver positive environmental and business change.
