Freelance Site Engineer - External Works
Sunderland
Full Time | Monday to Thursday | 7:30-5:30 | Fridays 07:30-3:30

Rate is £280 - £340 per day depending on experience & supplying kit

We are working on behalf of a successful civil engineering contractor who are seeing great success in expanding their workload and pipeline in the Northeast,

With a further project win in South Shields, they are seeking an experienced Setting out Engineer to control and lead all setting out activities for the external works on a new build development.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute on-site engineering tasks, including levelling, surveying and setting out.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Ensure all setting out activities are carried out in relation to plans and drawings.
• Conduct regular site inspections and provide technical support.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and reports.
• Adhere to safety standards and quality control measures.
• Solve technical queries.

What we're looking for

• Extensive experience working with Civil Engineering and Groundworks Sub Contractors on new build developments, specifically external works.
• A relevant Degree / HND or HNC in Civil Engineering.
• CSCS Card.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage & troubleshoot technical issues & meet deadlines.

Remuneration

• This is a freelance position and you will be engaged through Search Consultancy for the duration of the project.
• The rate is negotiable depending on experience and whether you can supply kit; £280-£340 per day.
• Outside IR35 Status is available following an assessment.
