Job summary

A civil engineering contractor is seeking a Site Engineer with strong marine and heavy civils experience for a major infrastructure project in the Shetland Islands. The role offers responsibilities in site management, surveying, and QA documentation. Candidates should have a degree in Civil Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience, along with proficiency in AutoCAD. The position will require working in a remote location.

Qualifications

  • CSCS card essential; SSSTS or SMSTS preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a remote location.

Responsibilities

RTL Group are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor who is seeking a Site Engineer with strong marine and heavy civils experience to support the delivery of a major infrastructure project in the Shetland Islands. Thi position is running for 4-6 month basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting out and surveying for marine and coastal structures (including piling, reinforced concrete, quay walls, etc.)
  • Use of GPS, total station and AutoCAD for accurate setting out and as-built records
  • Supporting site management in supervising subcontractors and coordinating works
  • Producing and managing QA documentation (ITPs, site diaries, check sheets, etc.)
  • Assisting with temporary works procedures and inspections
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with HSE and project standards
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of site engineering experience on marine or heavy civils projects
  • Proficient with setting out equipment and AutoCAD
  • CSCS card (essential); SSSTS or SMSTS preferred
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK
  • Comfortable working in a remote location (rotation or extended time away from home may be required)
