Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Site Engineer for the Anglian Water region across @one Alliance sites. You will work with project managers, design teams, and delivery partners to drive engineering excellence from planning through to handover.

The role requires a degree in Civil Engineering, setting out, surveying, QA, and travel across Anglian Water sites. We offer a collaborative environment with emphasis on safety, quality, and sustainable infrastructure objectives.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience as Site Engineer in construction/utilities/civil engineering environments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes and construction standards.
  • Understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements in construction.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Anglian Water region.

Responsibilities

  • Set out and survey works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Ensure construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme objectives.
  • Produce and maintain accurate site records, quality assurance documentation and as-built information.
  • Support the planning, coordination and delivery of construction activities across multiple projects.
  • Work closely with design teams to identify and resolve technical issues and engineering challenges.
  • Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure works meet quality, safety and environmental standards.
  • Undertake inspections, testing and verification activities to support project delivery.
  • Assist with risk management and ensure safe systems of work are implemented.
  • Support environmental, sustainability and health & safety objectives across all project activities.
  • Build collaborative relationships with Alliance partners, suppliers and site teams.

Location: @one Alliance Sites across the Anglian Water Region

Balfour Beatty play a key role as part of the @Anglian Water @one Alliance. The Alliance is a ground-breaking collaboration between Anglian Water and eight industry-leading partners: Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska and SWECO. Together, we deliver around 40% of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme.

As we progress through AMP8, our most ambitious asset management period to date, we're delivering nature-based and sustainable infrastructure, from wetlands to urban drainage schemes, setting new benchmarks for environmental performance.

We're looking for a proactive and motivated Site Engineer to join our growing team and support the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects across the Anglian Water region.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering vital water and wastewater infrastructure that will improve services for millions of customers. Working as part of the collaborative @one Alliance, you'll be involved in projects from initial planning through to commissioning and handover, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside Project Managers, Site Managers, Design Teams and Delivery Partners, you'll help drive engineering excellence while supporting innovative and sustainable solutions across our AMP8 programme.

  • Setting out and surveying works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.

Who we're looking for

What you'll bring:

  • Degree, HNC or HND qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working as a Site Engineer within construction, utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, setting out techniques and surveying equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes and construction standards.
  • Understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements within construction environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Anglian Water region.
