Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd. is seeking a Site Engineer for a major Scottish Water infrastructure project based in Perthshire. This long-term freelance role focuses on setting out, QA, and technical delivery across earthworks, drainage, pipelines and structures.

You will support the Site and Project Management teams to ensure works are safe, accurate, and compliant with standards, drawings, and specifications. A proactive, detail-driven approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering or utilities projects.
• Experience on Scottish Water or similar regulated infrastructure schemes.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications confidently.
• Proactive, detail-driven approach with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Setting out for earthworks, drainage, pipelines, structures and concrete works.
• Managing QA documentation including ITPs, RAMS, permits and as-built records.
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design information and specifications.
• Liaising with Site Managers, Work supervisors, subcontractors and designers.
• Carrying out site surveys, measurements and progress reporting.
• Monitoring quality and identifying non-conformances with corrective actions.
• Supporting health, safety and environmental compliance across site operations.

Job description

You will be joining your new company as a Site Engineer on a major £95m Scottish Water infrastructure project based in Perthshire. This long‑term freelance position offers the opportunity to be part of a high‑profile, technically challenging scheme with strong continuity of work.

As Site Engineer, youwill play a key role in the setting out, technical delivery and quality assurance of civil engineering works across the project. You will support the Site and Project Management teams to ensure works are constructed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with Scottish Water standards, drawings, and specifications.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Setting out for earthworks, drainage, pipelines, structures and concrete works
• Managing QA documentation including ITPs, RAMS, permits and as‑built records
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design information and specifications
• Liaising with Site Managers, Work supervisors, subcontractors and designers to resolve technical issues
• Carrying out site surveys, measurements and progress reporting
• Monitoring quality and identifying non‑conformances with corrective actions
• Supporting health, safety and environmental compliance across site operations

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on civil engineering or utilities projects
• Previous experience on Scottish Water or similar regulated infrastructure schemes (highly desirable)
• Strong technical knowledge of groundworks, drainage, pipelines, concrete and structures
• Competence in setting out using GPS, total stations and conventional methods
• The ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications confidently
• A proactive, detail‑driven approach with strong communication skills

Relevant qualifications and tickets:

• HNC / HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• CSCS (Engineering or Professionally Qualified level)
• SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)
• Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor (desirable)
• EUSR Water Hygiene / Confined Spaces (advantageous, but can be put through it with the company)
