Site Engineer
Based in the Huddersfield area
12 month rolling contract
£350 - £380 per day (Umbrella PAYE)
Responsibilites:
- Provide day-to-day engineering support across your assigned section of works
- Set out and survey site works in accordance with design drawings and specifications
- Ensure all works are carried out in line with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of safe systems of work, including method statements, risk assessments, permits, and ITPs
- Support the Site Management team by supervising subcontractors and direct labour to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently
- Liaise with designers, subcontractors, supervisors, and other key stakeholders to coordinate site activity and resolve any technical issues
- Keep accurate site records, including daily diaries, as-built drawings, progress reports, and quality documentation
- Monitor materials, plant, and equipment on site to ensure readiness and compliance with specifications
- Carry out quality inspections and contribute to QA reporting and compliance
- Participate in regular site meetings and communicate updates clearly to the wider team
Requirements:
- HNC, HND, or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- CSCS card (required)
- Previous experience as a Site Engineer on infrastructure projects (rail, highways, civil engineering, or similar)
- PTS is advantageous but not essential
- Familiar with GPS and setting-out equipment (e.g. Trimble, Leica)
- Good understanding of temporary works, method statements, and ITPs
- SMSTS or SSSTS is desirable
- Confident in reading drawings and interpreting design intent
- Able to work collaboratively with site teams and subcontractors
