Job summary

Bedford Greenacre Independent School is seeking a Site Agent (Maintenance & Grounds) to oversee upkeep of buildings and outdoor spaces. The role covers cleaning, painting, gardening, and general site services to maintain a safe, welcoming environment for pupils and staff.

The successful candidate will perform hands-on maintenance, ensure safety compliance, and support events across the school site. DBS checks and party-friendly, proactive teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance, caretaking, or a similar role.
• Practical skills in cleaning, painting, decorating, and gardening.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Basic understanding of health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day maintenance and repairs across the site.
• Undertake basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical tasks (where appropriate).
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Ensure all equipment and facilities are kept in good working order.
• Support compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across buildings, classrooms, and communal areas.
• Support deep cleaning schedules during holidays and periods of low occupancy.
• Ensure waste is managed and disposed of in line with school procedures.
• Carry out painting and decorating tasks to maintain a high-quality environment.
• Support refurbishment and improvement projects across the site.
• Maintain school grounds, including lawns, planted areas, and outdoor learning spaces.
• Carry out gardening duties such as mowing, pruning, planting, and seasonal upkeep.

Role Purpose

The Site Agent will play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of the school’s buildings and grounds. The role requires a proactive, hard-working individual who takes pride in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance

• Carry out day-to-day maintenance and repairs across the site
