This role is in support of Cencora's wholesale distribution services in Europe operating through our Alliance Healthcare business.
Position Summary
This is a truly exciting opportunity to be part of Alliance Healthcare UK's new, next-generation Central Logistics Centre (CLC). You will play a pivotal role in the launch, continuous improvement and ongoing success of this world‑class, game-changing facility. Designed with advanced automation and cutting‑edge robotics, the CLC is set to redefine how Alliance Healthcare manages and delivers medical, health and beauty products to our customers across the UK.
Principal Accountabilities
Customer Focus and Support
- Answering queries from internal and external customers.
- Collaborate with HRPC to explore and develop exciting opportunities for growth.
- Support with direction, development and guidance in line with our Guiding Principles including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and scheduling.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and continuous improvement. Embracing a learning and development culture across within the function liaising with L&D team to maximise output.
- Support teams to achieve business participation levels in employment engagement surveys to utilise the results to enable the site action plans.
- Follow up the performance and activities of team members through but not exclusively annual performance reviews, regular one‑to‑ones and provide timely feedback to all team members.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Champion the DE&I, embracing an open dialogue and collaboration as part of the sites culture, which empowers everyone to share their unique perspectives and feel valued, respected, and supported for it.
- Support and communicate the site goals and provide regular performance reviews to the site.
- Be a role model by demonstrating the Guiding Principles in the everyday and continuously work towards the Cencora Purpose.
- Prepare and maintain a staffing plan incorporating recruitment, subsequent induction, and training within limits specified by the Operations Lead to ensure optimum operational output at all times, including cover for holidays and absence.
Training and Development
- Provide training and development opportunities for team members, and if applicable succession planning.
- Ensure that all team members are proficient in their assigned roles.
- Monitor and follow up, alongside the Operations Training Specialist, the implementation of all training programs for new hires and ongoing skill development to the required standards and ensure team members have received all relevant training for their roles.
Analytical Reporting and Budget Management
- Provide analytical reporting of the CLC’s People KPIs and all financials in a timely manner.
- Monitor and report on colleague and agency FTE to aid control of site targets.
- Analyse expenditure of labour, discretionary, and non‑discretionary spend, reporting all spend that falls outside an agreed target.
- In conjunction with the Management Team, prepare annual labour, discretionary, and non‑discretionary budget submissions.
- Analyse and report on the approved annual budget in comparison to budget submission.
- Understand the site’s run rate and proactively report un‑budgeted spend.
Compliance
- Maintain a safe and organised work environment, ensuring a culture of being safe, legal and compliant.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation related to GDP cleaning activities and compliance to GDP standards.
- Conduct audits and investigate discrepancies, escalating to the Stock Control Manager.
- Implement standards and robust processes for the CLC in accordance with GDP compliance & Health and Safety regulations.
- Plans and organises own workload on a day‑to‑day basis
- Promote and encourage a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Health and Safety and ESG
- Champion the health and safety culture which ensures safe processes, procedures and behaviours as well as continuous improvement through best practice activities.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure adherence to stay legal and compliant
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Essential Requirements
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and maintain accurate records.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with other team members and departments.
- Excellent analytical, methodical approach, attention to detail and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and multi‑task various and conflicting responsibilities.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move materials as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet operational needs.
- Strong organisational skills to manage time, tasks, and resources effectively, ensuring deadlines and targets are met.
- Comfortable working in varying temperatures within the warehouse environment.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Ability to travel to the Birmingham site easily as this is a site based role.
Any prior knowledge of the following would be highly advantageous
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment, pharmaceutical industry or a related field.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and tools.
- Excellent organisational, communication, interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced working environment.
- Outstanding organisation, with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced working environment.
- An eye for detail, and high level of accuracy in record‑keeping.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team and collaboratively and effectively across multiple functional departments.
- Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics.
- Prior experience of the procurement process and managing purchase orders.
