Job summary

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Registered Practitioner to join the Clinical Education Simulation Team. You will design, deliver and co-ordinate simulation and practical skills for clinical staff, students and multiagency partners, with exposure to human factors theory and debriefing.

The role requires supervision and assessment of learners, and a willingness to pursue teaching qualifications.

Qualifications

• Registered practitioner with experience supervising and assessing learners in practice.
• Experience teaching simulation and human factors in skills labs.
• Willingness to work towards teaching qualification or PG certificate.

Responsibilities

• Design, co-ordinate and deliver simulation and practical skills for staff, students and partners.
• Provide debriefing and human factors training in labs, classrooms and via Teams/VR.
• Act as assessor at under/postgraduate practical exams as needed.
• Represent the team in meetings with local universities and multiagency partners.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust Clinical Education Simulation Team. An enthusiastic, motivated Band 6 Registered Practitioner to work in simulation required.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive induction programme, being taught Human Factors Theory and debriefing skills. They will devise and deliver simulation and practical skills to clinical staff, students and multiagency partners in the skills lab, simulation rooms and occasionally via technology (Teams/Virtual Reality.)

The successful candidate will be an experienced registered practitioner who has supervised and assessed learners/junior staff in practice. They will be clinically competent, with relevant clinical knowledge of skills taught. Preferably having undertaken training including ILS/ALS. Ideally, they will have a teaching qualification/post graduate certificate or willingness to work towards this. To remain clinically relevant, they will undertake clinical supernumerary visits.

You must be committed to delivering teaching, ensuring staff develop skills needed to provide quality patient care adhering to Trust values. The post holder will be supported to undertake a quality improvement or similar projects in simulation and clinical skills if appropriate.

To work as part of the simulation team within learning and development to design, co-ordinate, promote, facilitate and support the delivery of simulation and practical skills to clinical staff, students and multiagency partners.

To work as part of the simulation team to develop and implement training opportunities encompassing human factors, low and hi-fidelity simulation and practical procedures virtually, in a classroom or in-situ.

To occasionally act as an assessor at under/postgraduate practical exams in order to promote evidence-based practice in the use of practical procedures to staff and students to ensure quality care is delivered to patients across the Trust.

To deputise for the Associate Lead Clinical Simulation in relevant meetings within the Trust and with local multiagency partners (e.g. universities) as needed.
