Job summary

Genesis-World is seeking a senior software engineer to build and maintain the simulation engine in a London-based role. You will serve as a core maintainer, scale JIT-compiled engine testing, and drive reproducible debugging across platforms while enabling scene editing at frozen time and plugin extensibility.

The role emphasizes strong Python craftsmanship, architecture, and performance profiling, with responsibilities spanning from API design to open-source collaboration and community support.

Qualifications

  • Strong Python engineering on large codebases, including architecture, refactoring, typing, packaging, and performance profiling.
  • Experience with developer tooling, test infrastructure, or CI at scale.
  • Fluency with JIT compilation, code generation, or GPU computing stacks sufficient to reason about compilation caching, kernel dispatch, and startup cost.

Responsibilities

  • Build the software engineering backbone of Genesis-World, making the simulation codebase reliable, maintainable, and frictionless.
  • Serve as a core maintainer with shared stewardship of the whole platform.
  • Scale testing for a JIT-compiled engine and reduce compilation bottlenecks.
  • Make simulation bugs reproducible through bit-exact dump/reload across machines and backends.
  • Automatically generate standalone reproduction scripts from failing runs.
  • Make autodiff first-class by driving requirements for engine and compiler integration.
  • Enable editing of scenes at frozen time without rebuilding scenes or compiling the engine.
  • Create extensible plugins for physics solvers and interactive viewer backends, including Nyx.
  • Develop clean abstractions for motors and MIMO transmissions.
  • Decentralize simulation clocks and timesteps to the sub-scene level.
  • Implement physics-triggered events and interactions.
  • Refactor legacy subsystems, strengthen typing, standardize coding style, reduce Python overhead, and improve serialization, telemetry, and replay.
  • Review issues and pull requests with the core team.
  • Answer questions from users and contributors.
  • Support adoption of Genesis-World
