Job summary

Tesco is seeking a Simulation Data Scientist to develop and apply simulation models across Tesco's business and supply chain, from supplier to shelf. You will build, connect and validate models, use scenario experiments, and work within an agile Data Science team to deliver reliable simulation tools.

Qualifications

• Python programming and clean, testable code.
• Simulation modelling to represent real-world processes at different detail levels.
• Data analysis and statistics to prepare inputs and interpret results.
• Understanding data exchange between models and components.
• Familiarity with automated testing and software delivery practices.
• Clear written and oral communication; collaborative work in teams.

Responsibilities

• Understand operational problems and define what simulation must represent and measure.
• Build and maintain simulation models using Python and related tools.
• Create models at different detail levels balancing accuracy and data/computing needs.
• Connect models to run together across distributed environments.
• Learn and apply interoperability standards for simulations.
• Prepare data to set up models, identify gaps, and represent real-world variation.
• Validate models against real-world data and feedback from experts.
• Run experiments to assess operational changes in supply chain scenarios.
• Explain findings, assumptions, uncertainties and limitations clearly.
• Work in an agile team and contribute to code reviews, version control and CI/CD.
• Take ownership of tasks and develop technical skills.
