A leading engineering firm in the UK is seeking a Simulation and Modelling Engineer for an Undergraduate Placement in 2026. This role involves developing, integrating, and validating numerical models using MATLAB and Simulink, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring quality standards. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with MATLAB, a strong understanding of dynamic systems, and excellent problem-solving skills. The position promises dynamic hybrid working and various company benefits.
In this role, we focus on the development, integration, and validation of dynamic numerical models, primarily using MATLAB and Simulink. We work with both the weapon effectors and the wider system components, in order to provide simulations of our products to our customers: from concepting to assessment and through life support.
We engage with external teams and partners to integrate external models into our environments, as well as working closely with system designers, control engineers, and software developers to support the full development lifecycle. Automation is a key part of our testing process, and we are hands‑on in putting continuous integration and verification processes in place, in conjunction with performing detailed model validation against experimental or field trial data.
Ensuring quality standards are upheld is also important in our work, and all of our engineers participate in this through model reviews, contributing to documentation, and robust configuration management of models.
As a technical leader in the team, this role extends to collaboration with cross‑functional teams as representative of the modelling team, and presenting technical solutions for system integration and performance assessment activities.
We recognise that everyone is unique, and we encourage you to speak to us should you require any advice, support or adjustments throughout our recruitment process.
