Job summary

DX Freight, a leading UK parcel, mail and logistics company, is seeking a Shunter to safely move vehicles around the premises and support warehousing operations. You will drive in a safe, legal manner, perform daily checks and complete paperwork, while upholding site rules and PPE requirements.

The role requires an HGV 1/C+E licence held for at least 2 years, a valid DCPC card, and familiarity with drivers’ hours legislation. Competitive pay and a strong progression path offered.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid HGV 1/C+E licence for at least 2 years.
• No more than 6 points on the licence.
• Current DCPC card required.
• Understand drivers hours and WTD legislation.
• Carry out vehicle checks and report defects correctly.
• Comply with on-site health and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles safely and legally, complying with site requirements.
• Be aware of other drivers, colleagues and pedestrians.
• Carry out daily checks and complete related paperwork.
• Complete movement sheets and paperwork on time.
• Maintain professional conduct and protect DX Freight's reputation.
• Follow SSOW, site rules, and PPE requirements.
• Ensure PPE is in good order and used as instructed.
• Report vehicle defects before use and keep records updated.
• Seek continuous improvements to processes and services.

Job description

We value team players and here at DX we are committed to providing our people with the technical and personal skills to progress their careers., The successful candidate will support the warehousing and distribution operation by safely and efficiently shunting vehicles around the premises.

Key responsibilities

• Drive vehicles in a safe and legal manner ensuring compliance with all legal and site requirements.
• Ensure that consideration is given to other drivers, colleagues and pedestrians in the work area.
• Ensure all daily checks are undertaken ensuring defects are immediately reported and associated paperwork completed
• Complete all necessary paperwork, such as movement sheets, on time and in full
• To be respectful to other road users and members of the public ensuring the reputation of the business is protected at all times.
• Observe Company rules and procedures as defined in the shunter pack and other Company Policies and Procedures, such as site rules.
• Ensure that all personal protective equipment (PPE) used is in good order and is utilised as instructed
• Ensure all operations are undertaken in line with the relevant SSOW.
• Continually seek to improve our processes and services.
• Ensure all vehicles are checked for defects prior to use and such is reported immediately.

Essential Criteria

• You should have held your HGV 1/C+E Licence for a minimum 2 years.
• No more than 6 points no DD/ DR Code convictions
• Hold a current valid DCPC Card.
• Understand and able to comply with Drivers hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
