Job description

You will carry out complex analytical work to uncover insights into business performance, identify root causes, and highlight opportunities for improvement. You’ll deliver projects that create meaningful benefits for customers, colleagues, shareholders, and communities. A key focus of this role is improving shrinkage performance by investigating unknown loss across the business. You’ll analyse shrinkage trends, use data‑led approaches to understand where and why losses occur, and turn findings into actionable solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Managing workstreams that improve and transform store operations and shrinkage performance, helping us serve customers, communities, and the planet better every day.
  • Adopting a flexible approach to work across different areas, ensuring plans align with strategic goals and the Service Delivery Model.
  • Building strong relationships and collaborating with stakeholders across Tesco to achieve objectives and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Delivering complex analytical work to provide insight into shrinkage trends, identify root causes, and develop data‑led solutions.
  • Using data and statistical analysis to shape hypotheses, test findings, and communicate insights in a clear and engaging way.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce shrinkage, creating action plans, and supporting solutions that deliver meaningful benefits.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert, advising on changes that impact shrinkage and sharing knowledge to build team capability.
  • Taking ownership of processes and systems, ensuring they are efficient and effective, and embedding digital solutions in key decisions.
  • Supporting change projects by assessing opportunities, risks, and benefits, and contributing to successful delivery.
Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights clearly and confidently.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify root causes of complex problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience working with complex data sets, providing analysis that leads to actionable outcomes.
  • Ability to review, break down, and improve business processes.
  • Proficiency in data extraction and manipulation using data warehousing tools; SQL is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VBA knowledge is a plus).
  • Familiarity with programming or statistical tools such as Matlab, R, or Python (useful but not essential).
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • A numerate degree or equivalent qualification (A-level Maths as a minimum).
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and research methods.
  • Experience in a customer-facing retail environment.
