A prominent health organization in England is offering a one-year specialist clinical fellowship in upper limb surgery commencing on 1 April 2026. The role provides extensive training in advanced shoulder surgery, arthroplasty, and trauma practices. Applicants can expect a supportive and flexible working environment aimed at fostering professional development. Interested candidates must submit their applications by 29 December 2025.
This one-year specialist clinical fellowship commences on 1 April 2026 and covers the breadth of upper limb surgery, including advanced shoulder arthroscopic surgery, arthroplasty, trauma, and elbow elective and trauma practice.
The programme includes exposure to shoulder instability procedures (Bankart repair, remplissage, arthroscopic bone block, Latarjet), rotator cuff surgery (arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, allograft augmentation, superior capsule reconstruction, and potential salvage procedures such as tendon transfers), and predominantly primary arthroplasty with a focus on reverse geometry total shoulder replacements. Ample upper‑limb trauma experience will also be provided, covering peri‑articular trauma and related techniques.
Co‑curriculum comprises supervised and independent upper‑limb clinic sessions, supervised operating theatre exposure to open and arthroscopic surgery, educational meetings, and relevant research opportunities. The timetable is predominantly supervised, but independent operating opportunities and flexibility are available to maximise training potential. Fellows will also attend multidisciplinary team meetings, departmental education, and audit programmes.
Fellows are expected to produce one research paper related to upper‑limb surgery and the shoulder unit’s research programme, and may attend cadaveric workshops to familiarise themselves with the latest implants and techniques.
