Job Title: Shopify Technical Lead - Fully Remote - £70,000 + Benefits | Permanent

About the Role

We're working with a highly respected digital commerce consultancy that's expanding its Shopify practice and looking to bring in a Technical Lead - Shopify to help architect and lead complex builds for well-known brands.

As the Shopify Technical Lead, you'll lead cross-functional development teams and own the technical vision for Shopify Plus storefronts, apps, and integrations. You'll act as both a senior developer and a hands‑on technical mentor, working closely with architects, PMs, and QA to deliver best‑in‑class E‑commerce solutions.

This is a fully remote position with long‑term progression opportunities in a growing, collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Shopify Plus development across multiple high‑impact client projects
• Guide architectural decisions, scalability planning, and CI/CD pipeline setup
• Work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Perform code reviews and champion best practices for clean, maintainable code
• Support and mentor team members, helping junior developers level up
• Own the documentation of technical solutions and drive continuous improvement
• Collaborate in Agile sprints, ceremonies, and incident management reviews

Key Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of web development experience, with 3+ years in Shopify (Plus)
• Strong knowledge of Liquid, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and GraphQL
• Experience with Shopify Admin API, Function APIs, UI Extensions
• Background working with Agile/DevOps teams, CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows
• Ability to provide hands‑on technical leadership and mentor development teams
• Familiar with Shopify Plus, multi‑store setups, and internationalisation
• Experience with build tools like Vite.js, Webpack, or similar
• Understanding of performance optimisation (Core Web Vitals, asset loading)
• Bonus: Familiarity with Fiori, Polaris, Storefront/Dev MCP, and accessibility standards (WCAG)
