Are you looking for your next opportunity as a Shop Manager? Then look no further, come and join us at Hope House Children’s Hospices by playing a vital role in delivering ‘Our Mission’ helping every child with a life-threatening condition live their best life.

Hope House Children’s Hospices have an opportunity for a Temporary Shop Manager to join our team based at the Hope House Shop in Ludlow. You will join us on a Temporary 12-month basis covering maternity leave, working Part Time, 22.5 hours per week (working 3 out of 7 days to include weekend working).

In return, our Shop Manager will receive a competitive rate of £16,738 per annum (Pro-rata).

Here at Hope House Children’s Hospices, we are on an exciting journey to increase our annual contribution from our retail business to £2,000,000 a year by 2030, enabling us to reach every child and family who need us.

About the Shop Manager role

Reporting to the Area Manager, you will take responsibility for the management of our Ludlow shop, volunteers and customer services ensuring best representation of the charity on the high street. This support will include the processing of donations, gift aid, stock density and rotation, retail supplies and new goods, and the use of resources such as online sales to improve profitability.

You will maximise revenue using your commercial flair, ensuring the operational costs of the shop are covered and a profit contribution is generated. You will take responsibility for the line management, motivation and performance of staff and volunteers, being a firm but enabling leader who sparks enthusiasm and performance.

What we are looking for a Shop Manager who
  • Initiate relationships internally and externally for the purposes of stock generation.
  • Use information technology to analyse and interpret sales trends, identifying areas for improvement and successfully implementing commercial change.
  • Initiate efficient stock processing systems, ensuring that stock levels are sufficient and fluid in order to achieve commercial targets. Realise the maximum value of donated goods through deploying the right sales channels.
  • Manage stock control procedures to ensure new goods are receipted, located, stored and that inventory is accurate.
  • Ensure Gift Aid is captured at every opportunity to optimise revenue from donations.
  • Oversee recruitment and training of voluntary staff ensuring that they are trained and equipped to best represent the charity’s vision and objectives.
  • Update colleagues on business performance, new initiatives and other pertinent issues so that standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are being met at all times.
  • Work with the Cybertill EPOS system and observe all cash handling and recording procedures, daily banking, weekly return forms and other recording which may be required from time to time.
