Responsibilities
  • Utilise your retail experience to drive business, push sales and achieve targets.
  • Lead the volunteer team to deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers.
  • Work with the local community to secure sufficient donated stock.
  • Recruit, train and retain a volunteer team, providing leadership and guidance.
  • Set high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, ensuring health and safety are priorities.
  • Maintain well–merchandised stock with fresh, seasonal items at all times.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in‑store campaigns and national fundraising initiatives.
  • Manage effective stock processes through the Epos system.

Key Expectations

About Sue Ryder

Sue Ryder is one of the largest charity retailers in the UK with over 400 shops. Every item sold in our shops provides funding for 2.7 million hours of expert medical, practical, bereavement and emotional support each year, in our hospices, in people's homes and in the community. We help those approaching the end of life or experiencing grief access the support they need.

Our retail footprint includes boutique, vintage, retro and large‑format stores. As part of the retail team you will help inspire communities, drive income generation and support our vital services. Work is mostly weekend‑oriented; managers typically work one in two weeks. We expect most teams to finish by 5:15 pm, with an 8:45 am start. Major holidays such as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day are off.

Shipley Superstore—a £3 or less fashion and homeware shop—offers quality products at sensible prices, sells furniture for £50 or less, provides free parking, and is adjacent to B&M. We also offer free furniture collection services and volunteering opportunities. Donations can be dropped off via our back entrance or at the front near Topps Tiles.
