Job description

We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Shipping Coordinator to join our clients team. The primary function of this role is to receive, verify, and process shipments efficiently and accurately.

Contract: 12 months

Pay Rate: Up to £15.35 per hour

Hours: 08:00-16:00 Monday-Thursday, 08:00-15:30 Friday. Some slight flexibility on start/finish times is available.

Location: Peterborough, on site 5 days a week

Responsibilities
  • Checking incoming shipments and products for quantity, quality, and basic condition to ensure they align with the original order.
  • Preparing invoices, shipping documents, and mailing labels.
  • Arranging the transportation of goods, ensuring on-time shipments, and anticipating or resolving shipping problems.
  • Managing import/export processes, including handling customs clearance for imports and ensuring compliance for exports.
  • Completing all required import or export documentation.
  • Keeping detailed records for all incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Working with real-time inventory software to move supplies where needed.
  • Arranging for adjustments or replacements for any lost or damaged merchandise.
  • Moving shipments to the proper internal departments.
  • Providing excellent service to both internal and external customers and resolving common problems.
  • Documenting customer complaints in a timely manner.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
  • A degree or equivalent experience is desired.
  • Proven knowledge of import/export procedures, tools, and practices, including customs regulations and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of transportation and logistics, including arranging shipments.
  • Experience with Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) and inventory management software.
  • A strong commitment to accuracy and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to respond to requests with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop resolution alternatives.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to adjust to changing assignments and processes.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work constructively and collaboratively with others.
