The role

As a Ship Electrical Discipline Lead, you\'ll have a role that\'s out of the ordinary. You\'ll be at the heart of one of the UK\'s most exciting marine engineering programmes. You\'ll shape the electrical strategy for shipbuilding projects, ensuring safe installation and commissioning of electrical systems. This is a dynamic leadership role where your decisions will directly impact the success of our naval programmes and contribute to national defence.

Day-to-day you\'ll be:

  • Setting production strategies and targets to ensure timely and budget-aligned delivery of electrical work packages
  • Taking ownership of quality and schedule delivery across delegated work packages
  • Implementing performance indicators and control mechanisms to monitor progress
  • Forecasting and managing resource requirements in line with project plans
  • Leading and developing your team, including succession planning and talent management

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Ship Electrical Discipline Lead
  • Recent experience in a similar environment, ideally within the marine sector
  • Background in electrical trade (advantageous)
  • Proficient in ERP systems such as IFS or SAP
  • Full lifecycle experience from manufacturing to commissioning
  • Strong understanding of project management, controls, and commercial terms
Qualifications for the Ship Electrical Discipline Lead
  • ONC in a relevant construction trade or engineering discipline
  • Professional qualification in electrical engineering or industrial electrical construction
  • Project Management qualifications (desirable)
