Job summary

Genuit Group is seeking a Shift Technician to prepare, operate, and maintain production equipment, optimise tooling, and support start-ups and shutdowns. You will train staff, investigate issues, and apply lean techniques to drive improvements on the shop floor.

The role requires hands-on manufacturing experience, strong problem-solving ability, and the ability to work rotating day and night shifts. You will contribute to quality control and documentation, supporting continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience as a trainer.
  • PC literate and able to complete paperwork.
  • Willingness to work rotating shift patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment and ensure machinery is available for planned tool changes.
  • Coordinate labour and resources for tool changes with production leads.
  • Inspect product quality during start-up and resolve issues.
  • Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver training on processes and procedures to develop production teams.
  • Lead tool changes, start-ups, and shutdowns with proper documentation.
  • Maintain safe working practices and conduct risk assessments.

Job description

The Shift Technician will have in depth knowledge to prepare, operate, and maintain equipment and machinery safely and facilitate training. They will perform planned routine tool changes, maintain and repair tooling to keep production lines optimised and in good working order. They will support and facilitate the start up, shutdown of machines as well as problem solving, ensuring correct materials are utilised and perform quality control evaluations to confirm finished goods meet quality standards. They will share their experience and knowledge to train and develop our people to the required business documents. They will embrace and champion the trademark behaviours. You will work a shift pattern consisting of 2 days (07:00-19:00) followed by 2 nights (19:00-07:00) then 4 days off.,

  • Prepare equipment and ensure all machinery is available for planned tool changes, completing them efficiently and in line with the daily production plan.
  • Liaise with Production Team Leaders and technical teams to coordinate labour and resources required for tool changes.
  • Inspect product quality during machine start-up and identify, investigate, and resolve production issues.
  • Carry out root cause analysis and communicate corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
  • Deliver training on relevant processes and procedures, supporting the development of production teams.
  • Support and lead tool changes, machine start-ups and shutdowns, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.
  • Maintain safe working practices, conduct risk assessments, encourage hazard reporting, and ensure correct PPE usage.
  • Monitor equipment performance, assess breakdowns, and either rectify faults or raise them through the job card system.
  • Use lean manufacturing tools and techniques, including 5S, Kanban, TPM and SMED, to drive operational improvements.
  • Support daily production performance, including running lines to target speeds, recording data, and assisting with improvement initiatives and trials.
    Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience as a trainer.
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office packages.
  • Technically minded.
  • Understands business processes.
  • Able to accurately complete paperwork.
  • Organised and able to manage own workload effectively.
  • Ability to communicate effective,
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • Willing and able to work shifts.
