Job description
About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Process Technician to join our close‑knit Operations team within Strategic Pumping and Trunk Sewers. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining and improving our strategic pumping stations across North‑West London, while supporting larger‑scale projects.

We welcome applications from candidates outside the sector who can bring fresh ideas and perspectives. A deep interest in all things mechanical would be an advantage.

This is a front‑line role, ensuring all plant and equipment at our pumping stations and trunk sewers are safe, efficient, and ready for operation.

What you’ll be doing as the Shift Technician
  • Carrying out routine checks, basic planned maintenance, and troubleshooting to keep pumping stations running smoothly.
  • Participating in a 1‑in‑6 standby rota, staying in a provided flat at Lots Road Pumping Station during your standby week (you will receive 3 days off in lieu after each first‑call shift is completed).
  • Acting as compulsory second call in a 1‑in‑6 rota – you will be called out during extreme weather events, where Lots Road Pumping Station would become overwhelmed by rainfall; no requirement to stay in flat whilst on second call.
  • Monitoring plant performance and identifying trends for improvement.
  • Performing safety tasks, including statutory testing for legionella, fire systems, and general housekeeping.
  • Operating large storm pumping stations and mechanical equipment for safe isolations.
  • Completing confined space entries for inspections, maintenance, and fault finding.

Base Location: Hammersmith (PS) – W6 9RS

Working Pattern: 38 hours Monday–Friday 7:30 am – 15:30 pm plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase your earning potential upon completion of essential company training.

Due to the nature of this role you must hold a full UK driver’s licence.

What you should bring to the role
  • Be a self‑motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them, with the desire to learn from those around you and a can‑do attitude.
  • Take ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.
  • Teamwork – we are one team, and our end goals are the same.
  • Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
  • Be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
  • Have knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.
  • Full UK driver’s licence.
What’s in it for you
  • Competitive salary starting from £28,335 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
  • 24 days holiday per year, increasing to 28 days with the length of service (plus bank holidays).
  • Contributory pension – defined contribution, maximum of 12 % – 2 × employee contribution.
  • Personal medical assessments – open to all once a year.
  • Performance‑related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets.
  • Generous pension scheme through AON.
  • Generous paternity leave, including 4 weeks paid and an optional 2 weeks unpaid.
  • Enhanced maternity leave, 26 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half pay.
  • Wider benefits scheme including our benefits hub, which is packed full of offers and information to save you money and support your well‑being.
