Shift Technical Services Engineer – Mechanical or Electrical bias (Broxbourne)

Reports to: Engineering Team Leader

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and proactive mechanical or electrical engineer to join our Shift Technical Services Team at Broxbourne. You will play a key role in ensuring our production equipment operates efficiently, with minimal downtime, through reactive and preventative maintenance.

This role requires a hands‑on, technically qualified, confident professional who can work independently or as part of a team on a rotating shift basis to maintain high standards of performance, health and safety, and continuous improvement across the site.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical production support, corrective repair and maintenance across the full range of production equipment.
  • Work cohesively with engineering and manufacturing teams, as well as external technical organisations.
  • Exercise sound technical judgment under general supervision or independently, prioritising production uptime.
  • Deliver predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance to maximise equipment efficiency.
  • Ensure departmental quality standards are maintained and reviewed for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain professional housekeeping of work areas and uphold health & safety standards.
  • Assist in developing safe working practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyse maintenance requirements, corrective actions, and quality audits, providing actionable feedback.
  • Lead asset care initiatives, identifying opportunities for equipment improvement.
  • Support trials and development of new products and working practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programmes, problem‑solving, and quality control analysis.
  • Collaborate with production staff, team managers, and fellow engineers to maximise equipment effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of Health & Safety policies and standards.
  • Engage in strategic projects, including capital investment proposals, to identify future operational opportunities.
  • Represent the company professionally, promoting its reputation and values in all interactions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Mechanical, Electrical or multi‑skilled engineering qualifications (City & Guilds LIII, HNC, HND, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with relevant technical systems and maintenance tools.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and technical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and within production constraints.
  • Commitment to health & safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
