Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in the United Kingdom is seeking a hands-on Shift Supervisor to lead a production team on rotating 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm shifts. You’ll mentor staff, uphold safety standards, and drive performance through strong planning and clear communication.

This role emphasises people leadership, coaching, and continuous improvement, with opportunities to deputise for the Shift Manager and contribute to a positive, compliant working environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising or leading a team in a manufacturing/production/operational environment.
• Able to coach, develop people and build strong teams.
• Committed to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support colleagues on shift, creating a positive, inclusive and respectful working environment.
• Build strong relationships across the team and ensure people feel listened to and valued.
• Set clear priorities and ensure the shift is well organised and resourced.
• Coach and develop colleagues, supporting training, cross-skilling and future talent.
• Support attendance, performance and conduct management in a fair way.
• Champion health, safety and wellbeing and ensure safe working practices.
• Support delivery of production, quality, service and performance targets.
• Identify and resolve issues quickly and escalate when needed.
• Encourage idea sharing and continuous improvement.
• Promote a right‑first‑time approach to quality and compliance.
• Communicate clearly across the shift and provide effective handovers.
• Deputise for the Shift Manager when required.
