Job summary

DPD UK is recruiting an experienced Shift Manager to strengthen our depot operations team in Dartford. You will collaborate with the Depot Management group to resource the site, plan staff numbers for OD drivers, warehouse operatives and back office functions, and adapt staffing for holidays and peak periods.

The role requires coordinating with Franchise, People and Talent, Recruitment, Neuven and Regional Management to sustain our high-level service.

Qualifications

• Experience working in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
• Knowledge of logistics or distribution industry is advantageous.
• Experience with people resource planning is preferred.
• Strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent planning and organisational abilities.
• Ability to work on own initiative and resilient.

Responsibilities

• Achieve depot targets for Franchisees and manage driver mix.
• Maintain DR drivers at target of 1.5 per route.
• Balance agency vs employed warehouse staff to target.
• Manage employed drivers and 7.5 Tonne resources.
• Oversee holiday planning and peak resource plans.
• Ensure documentation and systems meet requirements and KPIs.

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager, to help strengthen our depot operations management team.

In this role you will be working closely with our Depot Management team to ensure your site is resourced correctly. This will involve planning staff numbers for self employed Owner Drivers (OD's) employed drivers, warehouse operatives and back office functions. Effective planning to cover the summer holiday period and Peak trading times will be critical.

You will liaise with multiple areas of the business. This will include, Franchise, People and Talent, Recruitment, Neuven and Regional Management to maintain and enhance our outstanding service.

Other key accountabilities will be;

• Ensure depot targets for ODF (Franchisees) is achieved and that the mix of single route drivers and multi route drivers is kept to target.
• Ensure DR drivers are kept at a target of 1.5 DR's per route.
• Ensure that both the agency warehouse operative percentage vs employed warehouse operative resource is kept to target.
• Ensure that employed drivers including 7.5 Tonne resource is kept to target.
• Ensure that back office resources are kept to target.
• Ensure that holiday planning and peak resource plans are completed, communicated effectively and implemented.
• Ensure that all relevant documentation and systems are completed accurately and in line with company and/or legislative requirements
• Working to set Key Performance Indicators including Resource, Productivity, Transport and Health and Safety.

Qualifications

What we're looking for;

As the successful candidate you will have gained experience working within a fast paced and dynamic environment. Knowledge of the logistics or distribution industry would be advantageous. Previous experience or knowledge in people resource planning is preferred. We would also expect;

• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels in a variety of formats
