Overview

Shift Manager - Exeter. Job Title: Shift Manager. Location: Exeter. Package: £51,088 P/A. Team: Manufacturing. Reporting to: Manufacturing Manager. Shift Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off. Team Size: 100. Budget Responsibility: Yes.

Purpose of the Role

As Manufacturing Shift Manager, you will lead a dedicated team in delivering production output at optimum efficiency while keeping people at the heart of everything. You\'ll be a key driver of operational performance and continuous improvement, working to provide the best product, service, and cost in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all operational plans are met (both production and hygiene).
  • Ensure satisfactory handover of information to following shift and escalate when appropriate.
  • Financial budget adherence.
  • Work with other shifts and stakeholders to realize improvement activities.
  • Lead investigation/identification of root cause for health and safety breaches, food safety or quality breaches, or mechanical breakdowns. Share learnings and amend procedures to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure shift training compliance and recording is maintained.
  • Ensure all relevant job breakdown sheets (standard operating procedures) are maintained.
Key Accountabilities
  • Uphold Health & Safety standards.
  • Support team development through regular 1:1s and development plans.
  • Ensure optimal labour productivity.
  • Maintain high standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
  • Drive equipment effectiveness (OEE) and maintain food safety compliance.
  • Adhere to cost controls and budgets.
  • Deliver right-first-time manufacturing outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Experience in short shelf life/high-risk FMCG (preferably dairy).
  • Proven track record in Lean and root cause analysis within complex manufacturing.
  • HACCP Level 2
  • Food Safety Level 3

Desirable:

  • HACCP Level 3
  • COSHH qualification
