Job description

We are looking for a skilled Engineering Technician to join a shift-based mechanical and electrical team, supporting process operations and maintenance activities across a 24/7 site. You will be part of a dynamic engineering team, reporting to the Engineering Lead and working closely with the shift performance manager to ensure the smooth running of the site.

This role operates on a "Panama 2" / 2-2-3 shift pattern, a 28-day rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts. The sequence is: two days on, two days off, three days on, two days off, two days on, and three days off, rotating between days and nights each cycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out maintenance work on machinery and equipment, including packaging, milling, and product handling systems, as well as site infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and perform practical fault finding on plant, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Install, commission, and modify plant and equipment as required.
  • Perform planned inspection routes and proactive maintenance on process plant.
  • Record all engineering activities accurately in the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Requirements
  • Proven track record in technical problem solving, fault diagnosis, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in a lean operational environment, ideally FMCG or similar.
  • Experience working in operational teams with varying disciplines and skill levels.
  • ONC / HNC in Engineering, supported by a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Understanding of hazards and controls in complex industrial environments, particularly food/feed production.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, balancing urgent and important tasks effectively.
