Job summary

IPL Schoeller is seeking a Shift Lead Injection Moulding Setter to lead a shift and ensure production plans are followed, tooling changes are executed safely, and defects are addressed promptly. You will supervise shift setters, monitor KPIs, and maintain tool readiness while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum level 3 industry recognised qualification in polymer processing.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in injection moulding operations.
• Strong knowledge of injection moulding machines and equipment.
• Familiarity with various plastic resins and their processing characteristics.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of mould setup and maintenance procedures.
• Understanding of quality control standards and inspection techniques.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all shift documentation is up to date and accurate including handover.
• Shift KPI’s are maintained and improvement plans in place.
• Carry out basic first line maintenance of tools.
• Fully understand manufacturing plans and set machines up to specification.
• Ensure daily/weekly safety checks are completed OTIF and documented.
• Ensure mould tools are safely installed and machines set to specification.
• Ensure correct materials and stocks are used in manufacturing.
• Maintain clean and tidy workspaces and stores.
• Monitor product quality against customer specs and take remedial actions.
• Ensure manufacturing documentation is correct and act as specialist support to production.
• Encourage and drive efficient and effective working practices.
• Support queries on material or product issues and obtain necessary support.
• Communicate daily with production on significant technical issues and impacts on targets.
• Support operators to achieve best performance and practices.

The role

The technical team are looking to fill the role of Shift Lead Injection Moulding Setter. As a shift lead, you will work as part of a team and be responsible for following the production plan ensuring tools are changed in accordance with site procedures, process stability, troubleshooting defects and maintaining a close working relationship with all departments to ensure priority plans are followed and any unforeseen stoppages are addressed in a timely and safe manner ensuring we achieve production company targets and objectives, promoting operational excellence at all times along with management of Shift Setters and shift supervision.

• On - 2 Days, 2 Nights
• Off - 5 Days
• On - 2 Days, 3 Nights
• Off - 4 Days
• On - 3 Days, 2 Nights
• Off - 5 Days
• Total Cycle Length: 28 days (14 days On, 14 days Off)

As a Shift Lead Setter At IPL You Will

• Ensure all shift documentation is up to date and accurate including handover
• Shift KPI’s are maintained and improvement plans in place
• Carry out basic first line maintenance of tools (level to be agreed)
• Fully understanding the manufacturing plans and being able to action those plans accordingly ensuring machines are set up to specification.
• Ensure daily/weekly safety checks are completed OTIF and documented
• To ensure that mould tools are safely installed and machines are properly set, so that the products being manufactured are in accordance to the Specification Sheet and control sample.
• Ensuring the correct materials and stocks are used in the manufacturing process.
• Ensure that workspaces and tools are maintained and stores/ used in correct manager and any maintenance activity required is carried out leaving workspaces in clean and tidy condition.
• Monitor the quality of products produced against customer specification sheets and apply and remedial actions to any substandard products / production techniques.
• Ensuring all manufacturing documentation, machine operation and labelling is correct and suitable for its purpose and act as specialist support to production
• Encourage and drive efficient and effective working practices within the department.
• Support queries and questions in regard to material or product issues and obtain support from the necessary personnel to help resolve in a timely fashion.
• Communicate daily with the production team on any significant technical issues and report any issues which may impact production targets/ schedules.
• Support operators in all manufacturing processes to achieve best performance and best manufacturing practices.
