Qualifications

  • Detailed knowledge of using & developing MS Office products, particularly Excel.

Working Hours: This role is part of a shift rotation which includes days and nights 12 hour shifts - 2 days, 2 nights, 5 days off / 2 days, 3 nights, 4 days off / 3 days, 2 nights, 5 days off

Salary: £60,000

The role

About the role:

As Shift Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading, organising, and developing a high-performing engineering team across your shift. Your primary focus will be ensuring that all preventative maintenance activities are completed to a high standard, breakdowns are resolved swiftly and efficiently, and complex maintenance tasks are executed with precision. You’ll take ownership of ensuring the availability of required parts and delivering thorough handovers to the incoming shift team.

A key aspect of this role involves close collaboration with Shift Operations Management, providing technical insight to help Production teams prioritise engineering tasks effectively. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring decisions are based on sound technical information and that engineering activities align with operational goals.

Key accountabilities

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage an engineering team to ensure effective plant operations, prioritising planned, improvement, and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Support the development and performance of team members, helping them achieve role-specific goals and targets.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of shift documentation, handovers, and maintenance records.
  • Collaborate with Operations Shift Management, providing technical input and participating in decision-making processes.
  • Escalate technical issues appropriately and liaise with external support when required.
  • Represent Engineering in short interval control meetings, providing updates on ongoing work.
  • Uphold health and safety standards, ensuring the plant is safe to operate and maintain, and that all engineering activities comply with relevant legislation and company policies.
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with food safety regulations.
  • Apply mechanical and electrical skills to support maintenance tasks and keep personal competencies up to date.
  • Engage in training and upskilling initiatives aligned with business needs and technological advancements.
  • Support investigations into safety, quality, or disciplinary incidents as required.
