Job summary

Arriva UK Bus is seeking an experienced Shift Engineer to maintain and improve our fleet at the Tunbridge Wells depot. You will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, and lead repairs to keep vehicles safe and reliable for daily passengers.

We value hands-on expertise with PSV/HGV systems, strong problem-solving skills, and adherence to health and safety. A driving licence is preferred; flexible shifts may apply. Training and career progression are offered.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 PSV or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
• Previous PSV/ HGV experience in a workshop or fleet environment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability with wiring, hydraulics and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals; adheres to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on buses, PSVs and related equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults using diagnostic tools.
• Complete repairs, modifications and upgrades to DVSA and safety standards.
• Support fleet reliability through effective fault finding and problem solving.
• Read and interpret drawings, schematics and manuals; maintain records and reports.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and apprentices as required.
