Job summary

Holt Engineering Ltd is seeking an experienced Shift Engineer for a key role in a large-scale manufacturing facility in Poole. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving a wide range of equipment, working closely with production to resolve issues quickly and ensure smooth operations.

The role features rotating days and nights shifts, including weekends, with handovers to ensure continuity. Candidates should have strong hands-on engineering experience and be committed to continuous

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Broad knowledge of modern maintenance techniques.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a shift-based team.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance across manufacturing equipment and plant.
• Fault finding and repair to minimise downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve reliability and performance.
• Ensure all engineering activities are carried out safely, following permit systems, risk assessments, and isolation procedures.
• Communicate effectively at shift handovers to ensure continuity of issues and actions.
• Manage spare parts usage and maintain accurate stock levels.
• Support RCA and CAPA processes.
• Liaise with production and other departments to ensure equipment availability for planned maintenance.
• Provide technical support, coaching and mentoring to operators and junior engineers.
• Maintain high GMP and housekeeping standards within engineering areas.
