Job summary

Kraft-Heinz, Inc. Worcester site is seeking a Shift Engineer to join the Site Maintenance Team on a rotating shift. You will deliver asset availability and reliability through reactive, preventative and corrective maintenance across safety, quality and production targets.

The role requires multi-skilled mechanical and electrical knowledge, fault-finding ability with PLCs, and experience with predictive/PPM routines. Open to apprentice graduates; SAP and TIG welding experience are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide shift-based engineering breakdown support and assist with changeovers.
• Diagnose production issues and implement fixes to improve reliability.
• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks and respond to unscheduled needs.
• Plan and coordinate daily/weekly workload with the Maintenance Manager.
• Reorder spares and manage stock to keep levels efficient.
• Identify improvement ideas for PPM, store ops and equipment.
• Maintain high standards in own area and ensure compliance with policies.
• Support upskilling of operators in changeovers, shutdowns and CIP.
• Understand and operate production equipment to provide operator cover.
• Ensure safe operation and fault finding on all machinery.
• Communicate clearly with staff and present recommendations.
• Assist with additional requests from Maintenance Manager or Site Leadership.

Job description

Job Title: Shift EngineerReporting To: Team Leader Shift: 3-Week Rotation Pay Rate: starting at £21.05 per hour + 15% shift allowance

PURPOSE OF ROLE

As part of the Site Maintenance Team, you will be responsible for delivering asset availability and reliability in order to maintain safety, quality and production across the Worcester Site, through reactive, preventative and corrective maintenance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Work on a rotating shift pattern to provide engineering breakdown support for the Site, execute changeovers and continuous improvement activities.
• Diagnose and overcome operational problems, working with the production team to identify root cause of problems and then suggest and implement improvements to address reliability.
• Execute PPM tasks and effectively react to unscheduled maintenance requirements with appropriate corrective action.
• Plan, schedule and agree daily and weekly workload with the Maintenance Manager and Engineering Team Leader.
• Update the Engineering Team Leader to reorder spare parts used to ensure stick levels are maintenance and to control spares in an efficient manner.
• Actively look for areas of improvement and put forward ideas to improve PPM's, Store Management, Maintenance Day activities and alternative efficient equipment / processes.
• Takes pride in maintaining the standards in and around own working area and any areas of allocated ownership.
• Ensures company policies and procedures are always adhered to, and quality, safety, performance, and attendance standards are maintained.
• Support the technical upskilling programme of the Production Operators (changeovers, shut down and CIP procedures.)
• Understand and operate production equipment and CIP procedures to provide operator cover to an absolute minimum.
• Takes responsibility for safe operation, fault finding and maintenance of all machinery, as well as own personal safety, and the safety of colleagues.
• Able to understand and deliver company and best practice quality standards.
• Has effective communication with all employee's ensuring information is communicated effectively and concisely presenting recommendations, plans and decisions in a clear and logical manner.
• Utilises the allotted time to carry out detailed handovers, ensuring all relevant information is requested and given.
• Any other reasonable requests made by the Maintenance Manager or Site Leadership Team.

EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
